Looking for a wonderful way to celebrate spring? Searching for the perfect Mothers’ Day surprise? Gather up some family and friends and join us at our 2022 Bid for Brighter Futures: The Funniest Fundraiser Around on Friday, May 13 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Boxboro Regency Hotel.

You’ll enjoy a buffet dinner and cash bar, then laugh and be amazed by Matt Roberts, a nationally known comedian and magician, who has been a contestant on NBC's America’s Got Talent. For even more fun, you’ll have a chance to win one of many great raffle prizes.

The evening will support the Domestic Violence Services Network, Acton Food Pantry, Cooperative Elder Services, and Danny's Place. For many years, they have provided essential help to people in need. In this struggling economy, these charitable organizations require assistance more than ever.

Support four local, worthy causes

Domestic Violence Services Network works with local courts and agencies to help end the cycle of domestic violence by providing support, advocacy, and resources to victims. Referrals have increased by more than 30 percent during the pandemic, as many victims have been confined to homes with abusive partners. Your sponsorship will help address this vulnerable population’s need for food, housing, and income.

Acton Food Pantry has served clients from Acton, Boxborough, and surrounding towns for 25 years. Because of the COVID-19 crisis, food insecurity in Eastern Massachusetts is expected to rise to 59 percent, and the Pantry has opened its doors to anyone in need. Your support will help the organization distribute weekly groceries to families throughout the region, including meats, produce, staples, and even diapers.

Cooperative Elder Services provides adult day health services to seniors and adults with medical and/or cognitive challenges who reside in Acton and surrounding communities, including but also not limited to Ayer, Bedford, Boxborough, Burlington, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Harvard, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, and Sudbury. CES takes a comprehensive approach to supporting the health of seniors and adults with medical and/or cognitive challenges. At each of CES' adult day health centers, staff members work toward a common goal: to empower participants to age-in-place by serving their health and socialization needs and providing support for families.

Danny’s Place opened its doors in 2006 to the youth of the entire Acton-Boxborough community In 2003 while in his junior year at Acton High School, 17-year-old Danny McCarthy died tragically in a car accident while out with friends. His appreciation for the people in his life and the lives they created together was something that everyone loved about him. Days after Danny's death, his family and friends gathered to find a way to keep his spirit and his contribution alive. They created a space in his memory where, just as Danny had drawn his own small community together in life, young people could come together to connect and grow.
