Rotary Youth Ambassadors — Service, Learning and Leadership Development Program for HS Juniors and Seniors

Rotary Youth Ambassadors

May 2017

Our Rotary Club is piloting a new program for Junior and Senior High School students to participate in called Rotary Youth Ambassador. This program is open to all Acton and Boxborough High School Juniors and Seniors at ABRHS, vocational schools, private schools, charter schools and homeschoolers.

We encourage students with learning differences to apply.

The mission of the Rotary Youth Ambassador program is to provide a community service, learning and leadership development opportunity for High School Juniors and Seniors who are committed to making a difference in the community. Working alongside Rotarians, candidates will be inspired to take on key youth leadership roles in our community service events or projects.

By becoming a Rotary Youth Ambassador, candidates will:

  • provide 5+ hours of service to the club by participating at our community events or projects

  • have an opportunity to be the recipient of a $500 award, once contributed 10+ hours of service to the club. This award is given to only one Rotary Youth Ambassador.

  • earn a letter of recognition from the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough

Currently we are gearing up for our signature Wings and Wheels event, a summer long car and air show and picnic at Minute Man Air Field. We are actively seeking candidates to take on key leadership roles at this fun summer community fundraising event. Funds raised support our year round programs.

Wings and Wheels runs from 4pm-8pm on 4 selected Thursdays during the summer from June – August. Scheduling is flexible and students can participate in as many as they would like to.

At the Wings and Wheels event, Rotary Youth Ambassadors can do any or all of the following:
– setting up for the event
– selling food and beverages at our concession stand
– cleaning up when it closes

Students interested in participating in this summer’s Wings and Wheels event, should submit an application by June 23rd. The application is simple and no essay is recommended or required.
