Win prizes, enjoy scenic golf and great food to benefit AB Rotary.
On Wednesday, August 17, 2011, the Rotary Club of Acton-Boxborough (AB) will hold its annual golf tournament at The Woods of Westminster, Westminster, MA. "The tournament is the AB club's major fundraiser for local and international education and health-related projects," said AB Club President Ed Metro.
The format is a scramble with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. In addition to raffle items, prizes include team low gross, longest drive, closest to the pin, closest to the line, and a chance to win a new car for a hole-in one. The cost is $125 per player, ($475 per foursome), which includes green fees, cart, breakfast, and a full buffet lunch. Sponsors get advertising and web promotion. For more information, contact an AB Rotarian, or go to Roche Brothers, Bravo Pizza, or Gould's Clothing.
This is the Rotary's major fund raising event of the year. On an international level, they are one of the three largest contributors (along with The World Health Organization and UNICEF) to "Polio Plus", the determination to make the world polio free. The Club also contributes substantially to housing and local health needs and efforts to promote clean, safe drinking water for communities in Asia, Latin America and Africa. The great majority of support, however, is concentrated locally. Supporting DARE, S.A.F.E., Youth Leadership awards, scholarships for our local schools, senior citizen events, among several others. All of the funds raised through the Tournament will go to these projects.
